Our History

The Grafton Inn has welcomed guests since 1820. Today, we are still a beacon of comfort to the modern traveller in the 21st century

Nestled in the historic hamlet of Grafton, the inn and its outbuildings provide the ideal location for weddings, business meetings, banquets or weekend retreats. Our spacious grounds invite visitors to relax and wander walking paths, listen to the gentle gurgle of the babbling stream or simply read a book in the gazebo. The hamlet itself, with its antique shops, book store and gallery captures the charming ambiance of a small Ontario village.

The historic towns of Cobourg and Port Hope are a short drive away and are well within the reach of bicyclists and day trippers. Broad stretches of Lake Ontario shoreline with its crashing surf are close by, as are the farmers’ markets and roadside markets that dot the countryside. The beaches, wineries and galleries of neighbouring Prince Edward County are an hour’s drive from the inn’s doorstep.

Welcome to your home away from home… just step through our front door and let your journey begin. If you’re not afraid of ghost stories, be sure to ask about the findings in the basement, during the Inn’s renovations…
